Solutions For Excess Sweating

Even though it’s normal for us to sweat even more so in hot, countries, or when strenuously exercising, abnormal sweating is a genuine medical complaint known as hyper-hidrosis. People who suffer from hyperhidrosis normally have excessive perspiration of the hands, feet and underarms, although it’s not uncommon to have abnormal sweating of the groin, back, scalp and also other places that there are numerous sweat glands. There is even a specific type of excessive sweating that occurs when sleeping, known as sleep hyperhydrosis. All the different types of this medical complaint cause different problems, from the sweaty hands causing accidents, a social problem with handshakes or armpit stains, and all will lead to body odour unless the sweat is washed off frequently.

Before seeking treatment of hyperhidrosis, it is important to know what causes normal sweat activation. In people without abnormal sweating problems, the sympathetic nervous system (part of the autonomic nervous system) regulates the function of the sweat glands. Humans have hardly any control over the functions of the sympathetic nervous system . It’s the part that regulates our heart-beat, our breathing, our gut movement and many other body functions we’re unaware of.. unless something stops working properly.

Control of sweating goes awry in those people who suffer from excessive sweating. It’s known that the cause is hyper-activity of the nerve cells which activate the eccrine glands, because anti-cholinergic drugs, injections of botox, or surgery to sever the nerve leading to the sweat glands will stop the sweating. Those are three of the more dramatic ways to deal with hyperhydrosis. Simpler solutions for excessive perspiration are mental relaxation techniques, not drinking caffeinated drinks, using strong antiperspirants such as those with aluminium chloride and avoiding spicy foods. It’s also thought that the mineral zinc can help decrease sweat production, as can sage tea.

Almost all people who have excessive sweating will go for cheap, natural solutions, and if they don’t work will, think about  the more expensive treatments. It’s important to note that the most dramatic treatments such as drugs and surgery will have unwanted side effects, so please consult a qualified medical practitioner before considering such solutions for your excess sweating.
