Why did they invent things like Certain dri

I was at a very young age when I first noticed my excessive sweating issues. It was around the time of my twelth birthday. These were fairly simple days and we didn’t use any extra strong antiperspirants such as the ones that we use now. You will probably think I’m ancient but people back then preferred home made cures and serums. By today’s standards these solutions probably look barbaric. For example sometimes people used to soak their feet and hands in urine in order to block sweat. These remedies are now long gone, they were replaced with over the counter solutions.

What happened?

I personally think that people have a worse BO than they used to and that’s why they are eager to solve the excessive sweat issue. At first I thought that it’s ridiculous, but the more I learn about sweat treatments the more I think that it could be true. This is because the sweat is composed of internal fluids. The degree of smell depends on the types of products that we consume. The following, amongst other things, cause our sweat to stink: fast food, coffee and garlic. It’s not a secret that consumption of these smell causing ingredients has increased in the past couple of decades (especially coffee) and so did the smell.

Who’s pushing these technological advances?

Besides the issue of the increasingly bad BO there is also the development of new chemical solutions. Probably the biggest one was the discovery of the effects of Aluminum Chloride on the skin.

The potent substance creates a barrier between the surface of the skin and the sweat glands.

So now the scientists had something potentially interesting on their hands, but they needed to develop the market. This is when the endless TV commercials started to appear featuring different antiperspirants such as certain dri deodorant. I would say that some of them were a bit too hyped up and almost unbearable to watch. By watching them you would get an impression that a person with sweaty armpits is a social outcast. The general media paid so much attention to this “epidemic” that regular sweating became a taboo. It became almost silly!

Is it really that wicked?

This media hype is not completely useless either. For example people that are handling small objects and need to have dry hands can really make use of a solution such as certain dry. But sweat should not be portrayed as something evil. People that have excessive sweating issues, might start feeling even worse because of these over hyped tv commercials. Certain level of restraint should be exercised by the media.
